Kaimana Klassic XVI

February 15, 16, and 17, 2003

President’s Day weekend

Located in sunny, sandy (and sometimes windy) Waimanalo, Oahu… the Kaimana Klassic is an all-inclusive tournament where you get lots of high-quality tournament play, great food, awesome entertainment, camping on the beach, and friends and memories that will keep you coming back year after year… all for the low price of $150 per player! (Early registration fees of $120 ended January 15.)

          Recent Updates and FAQs:

☼ Registration is Friday afternoon from 4p.m. to 8p.m. at the Waimanalo Polo Fields. Dinner will be served! The registration table will also be open Saturday morning from 7a.m. to 10a.m. for late-arriving players, but please register on Friday if at all possible! Everyone must register before playing.

☼ Arriving early? Play pickup on Thursday afternoon from 5:00 to dark at Ala Moana Beach Park, ocean side, across from Sears. The party will probably migrate to Magoo’s, on University Avenue, after pickup.

☼ There is NO CAMPING at any of the State Parks (including the ones we’ve reserved) on Wednesday or Thursday nights. Folks who need a place to stay on those nights should try hostels or hotels. Looking for a floor to crash on? Your best chance of finding one is to show up at pickup at Ala Moana on Thursday.

☼ From Friday to Tuesday, we have ALL of the campsites reserved at Waimanalo Bay Beach Park, located directly across from the Polo fields. The gates at the campsites close to all vehicular traffic around dark-thirty, so plan to arrive before then. By state park regulations, there is NO CAMPING on the beach itself, you must stay in the wooded area where there are designated campsites.

☼ We have campsites 8, 9, 10, 14, 15, and 20 reserved at Bellows Beach Park, which is ~1 mile north of the Polo fields entrance, inside Bellows Air Force Base. These sites are oceanside, on the far side of the first restroom. Access to these sites is from the second or third “driveway” off of Tinker Road, but it's ~1 mile drive from the highway before you get to the campsites. *The road to Bellows does not close, so late arrivals on Friday night may choose to camp at Bellows.*

☼ Gates to the Polo Fields will be open at all hours, and there is parking available inside.

☼ There are still spots left on both the men’s and women’s Aloha Spirit teams! If you’re an individual without a team, this is the one for you: pickup with players from all over the country, learn (or teach) lots, and make new friends! Registration for Aloha Spirit players is $120.

☼ Bringing a guest? For $65, guests get all the benefits that the players get, minus the play.

☼ The Post Kaimana Hat Draw will this year take place on Maui. Maui Fish and Poi Hat Draw. Places are limited, so visit their website and sign up now! Also, due to recent collaboration between the inter-island airline companies, flights are limited… so be sure to book your tickets ASAP!
